Who would play the cast in a movie or series?
I’ve just asked my colleague who has endured my endless ramblings about the characters in my book more than anyone else. Originally, she was the inspiration for the character ‘Nina’, but as the story progressed, Nina took on a life of her own and became a completely different fictional woman.
Together, we brainstormed some casting ideas. As I wrote the book, I had certain people in mind, but as time went on, my vision evolved.
Nina
The girl who inspired my Nina character, who is helping me out here with this, believes Anne Hathaway would be the perfect fit to portray Nina. Personally, I envision a dark-haired Emma Stone bringing Nina to life on the big screen.
Bree
When it comes to Bree, I always pictured Gwyneth Paltrow in her ‘Sliding Doors’ days. If we had to choose a modern-day actress to embody Bree, Margot Robbie would be the closest match.
Carla
Despite Carla being English-born and bred, we believe Salma Hayek would be the perfect fit for her character. As I was picturing her while writing however, I couldn’t help but see a curly-haired Rachel Bilson in the role.
Petra
Now, Petra is a real challenge. When I was creating her character, I was all over the place. She started off as Joan Cusack, then morphed into Kristen Stewart, and finally settled on Stephanie Beatriz. To me, her appearance changed with her attitude – from bitter to sweet. As they say, beauty comes from within, so nailing down her look was quite the puzzle.
Now, let’s move on to the male cast.
Nik:
Let’s dive into this one, shall we? When I envisioned Nik, I pictured someone like Hugh Jackman. However, my colleague insists he should be played by Simon Baker, Gerard Butler, or even Jeffrey Dean Morgan. But, for me, it’s Hugh Jackman all the way.
Zac:
Ah, Zac. As I brainstormed this character, I was binge-watching SWAT on Netflix, and I must admit, Shemar Moore was my muse. He exudes coolness and compassion, just like Zac.
Robbie:
No doubt about it, Henry Cavill is the perfect fit for Robbie. He’s cute, but not too cute, and there’s something about him that makes you want to trust him just a little less (Sorry, Henry).
Micky:
Bree’s first love and first heartbreak, bore a striking resemblance to a young Paul Rudd in real life. Naturally, that’s how I envisioned him. However, since he only appears in the first book without the chance to age, I believe Theo James would be the ideal choice to play him.
Sully:
I had some real-life inspiration for this character. If I had to pick an actor to portray him, I’d say someone in the realm of Adam Driver.
