Kia is so different from all the others in the book. I’m wondering if you planned that or if he just turned out that way as you were writing.

I’d already created the Kia character in my mind for another series, yet I needed a stronger man—a man with a purpose and a mission—in book three so I just took what I’d written and merged his story into this series book. So, when I released where books three, four and five were heading, I knew I needed and wanted him to play a larger part. I love that he is so family orientated, yet has this dangerous side to him too. He’s a bit of an enigma, I guess, and I loved writing about his multi-layered character. I spent a long time working on his motives for going off the rails and the reason he kept on going in his search for, well, if you’ve read it, you know who I mean. I already had in mind who I wanted him to end up in a relationship with, but it took a while to get there. The lady I had in mind needed a reason to realise he was the man for her, but she’s strong-willed and wouldn’t just settle for anyone. Read on to find out who it is!
