I can only write with music when I’m at home. As soon as the TV goes on, it’s game over. I watch TV while I’m working on blog posts, social media updates, and the like.

I have a deep love for a wide variety of music, but when it comes to writing, I always ask Alexa to play a random playlist of African music. It transports me back to my favourite writing spot: Zanzibar. The music drowns out the fact that I’m actually in Italy, on a plane, train, or in my office, and helps the words flow effortlessly. Don’t get me wrong, I love Italy, but with so many work distractions, It’s often hard to concentrate. In Zanzibar, the only real distractions are the pool, the ocean, and dinners out with friends, so writing is such a pleasure over there.
